Oxford American dictionary defines Omnivore as "one that's eats both plants and meat", and Dilemma as "a undesirable or unpleasant choice". According to Michael Pollan that's exactly what happens when we know and understand how the food we eat gets on our plate. The Omnivore's Dilemma is not meant to scare anyone but is meant to open our eyes, and when we look at our food with open eyes we give ourselves more options. Below are some fun facts from the book: Did you know that "The average American eats fifty-eight pounds of high-fructose corn syrup every year". Also, corn is in almost every thing we eat.For example chicken nuggets are "corn wrapped up in more corn. The chicken was fed corn. The batter is made from corn flour. The starch that holds it together is corn starch. The oil it was fried in was corn oil."
