Ever since Tanya was little she could see fairies. Anytime Tanya would try to tell someone about the fairies they would punish her. After her latest run in with the evil fairies she is sent to the countryside to her grandmother's for the summer. Isabelle Bean is a middle-schooler that believes she's not from this world. She knows in her heart of hearts that she is a changeling (a fairy or elf baby that is switched with a human one). One day Isabelle falls in to a closet after following a mouse's squeak in to a parallel world, where the children are running away from a witch and worst of all they think either Isabelle is the witch with her pointy boots or she must be helping her.

This delightfully, decadent collection of frightening short stories from all across China will leave you shaken and dare I say a little hungry for more. The book is laid out like a typical menu with appetizers, main courses and desserts sections. Each tale ends with brief historical notes that tie in key points in the story as well as a delicious recipe, which happens to be the title of the story. Bon Appétit!

Book Review - The Omnivore's Dilemma : The Secrets Behind What you Eat Young Readers Edition - Michael Pollan
Oxford American dictionary defines Omnivore as "one that's eats both plants and meat", and Dilemma as "a undesirable or unpleasant choice". According to Michael Pollan that's exactly what happens when we know and understand how the food we eat gets on our plate. The Omnivore's Dilemma is not meant to scare anyone but is meant to open our eyes, and when we look at our food with open eyes we give ourselves more options.
